KIDS CLUB
We know that kids love to climb on just about everything and we are here for it!
Our Kids Club program is great for youth that are hoping to learn and grow as climbers in a supportive and constructive environment. Over an 8-week period our skilled instructors will work through an elementary climbing curriculum that involves lots of games, encourages collaboration and team building, introduces the basics and fundamentals of climbing, and even includes a friendly “mock comp” experience. Let us promote your child’s self-confidence while giving them access to climbing as a potential lifetime sport!

Intended for beginner and intermediate climbers as well as for climbers who have never before attended Kids Club at The Commons.
Over an 8 week period this group of kids will work through a fun and elementary climbing curriculum. This program will teach basic terminology, introduce climbing gear and gym etiquette, offer tips to improve climbing technique, and more! Participants will also be encouraged to start setting low pressure and achievable climbing goals for themselves and to offer support and encouragement to their peers. Level One Kids Club is for new climbers, casual or comfortable climbers, and everyone in between who seeks to grow their self-confidence on and off the wall. Kids who have attended one or more Kids Club Level One sessions are strongly encouraged to sign up for Kids Club Level Two!

Intended for intermediate & advanced climbers who have attended one or more Kids Club Level One sessions at The Commons. After October 2026, Kids Club Level One will be a prerequisite for Kids Club Level Two.
Level Two Kids Club is intended for intermediate and advanced climbers who have completed one or more Kids Club Level One 8-week sessions. These are climbers who are looking to improve their existing skillset, may want to start projecting more personally challenging routes, and are potentially interested in trying out for our Climbing Team. Level Two Kids Club sessions are also for kids who just really like climbing and want to keep doing it, but who may not be ready to jump into a competitive environment just yet. These sessions will still involve a lot of games and confidence building exercises while continuing to provide a fun space to form friendships with their fellow climbers!

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sign up for more than one session?
1
Yes! You are welcome to register for as many consecutive 8-week intervals as you would like. Payment for each is due at the time of registration.
Are there age requirements for the different levels?
2
Nope! Going forward all placement in Level One or Level Two Kids Club will be based on skill and not on age.
How do I know if my climber is ready for Level Two or Level One?
3
If your child is new to Kids Club, please enroll them in Level One. However, if your child has attended Kids Club previously and is an intermediate climber (5.9 on rope or is working on green routes on boulders) then they may already be ready for Level Two. (If they don’t know their climbing grade then they are probably in Level One.)
We will try to keep future sessions available as far as three intervals in advance (approximately 6 months). The next consecutive interval (January - February 2027) will open for registration in July.
How far in advance are the schedules posted?
4
Does Kids Club registration include a gym membership for my child?
5
Yes! Enrollment includes a gym membership and benefits for the full period of the program, including any “bonus” weeks in the schedule during which Kids Club is cancelled because of holidays or conflicting gym events. Rental gear (shoes, harness and chalk) will also continue to be included with membership for Kids Club classes, but will need to be purchased separately if they are climbing at the gym outside of class-time.
What happens when one of the sessions fills up?
6
If a session is full, we are happy to put you on a wait list for that session only - there will be no more long-term wait lists! Please also consider enrolling in one of the future intervals that has more availability or consider registering your child for one of our Summer Camps!
Can we register for only part of an 8-week session?
7
Because each club is scheduled and reserved in advance there will be no partial refunds for any missed classes. We are also unable to cancel or refund a membership part-way through the session, since it would not be possible for us to then offer that spot to someone else mid-way into the curriculum.
