The 2026 Boise Boulder Battle

The Commons Climbing Gym is so excited to invite all Region 21 and Region 22 athletes to the 2026 Boise Boulder Battle on October 24th, 2026. This event will consist of a USAC QE competition in the morning as well as a citizen’s comp in the afternoon/evening which will is open to climbers of all ages, regions, divisions and skill levels!

We are offering an early bird registration discount of $10 off the Citizens Comp portion of the Boise Boulder Battle through October 1st, 2026, AND the first 25 registrants for the citizens comp will receive 5 additional raffle tickets!

Member Registration: $50 $40

Non-Member Registration: $55 $45

Competition Information

  • Because we can not predict the exact number of competitors who will register for the 2026 Boise Boulder Battle, the Comp-Day Schedule will remain subject to minor changes up until the week prior to the event when USAC registration numbers are finalized. We ask that competitors plan to spend the entire day at our facility so as not to miss out on any needed last minute adjustments to the schedule.

  • Registration with USAC for the QE portion of the 2026 Boise Boulder Battle will open on October 7th at 6:00pm MT, and close on October 21st at 12:00pm MT. To learn more please visit the USAC website.

    All USA Climbing Qualifying Registration must be completed through USAC. The Commons Climbing Gym is not able to register any youth climbers for the USAC portion of the competition.

  • We are pulling out all the stops for the 2026 Boise Boulder Battle! On top of this year’s bouldering competitions we will have a raffle, all-day games and opportunities to win prizes, entertainment and on-site refreshments and a food truck Meriwether Cider will also have cider and NA-beer for purchase after 4pm.

Citizen's Comp Format:

This competition (except for the Open categories) is a Classic Redpoint. In this format, competitors have the goal of completing the highest value boulders, where each boulder has a unique value. A competitor’s final score will be the cumulative value of their top five (5) completed boulders, and competitors will be ranked in descending order of cumulative value. In the event of a tie, the competitors will then be ranked by:

  1. Total attempts on top 5 boulders (ascending order)

  2. Competitors' 6th highest boulders (descending order)

  3. Total attempts on 6th highest boulder (ascending order)

The Open categories will follow a Modified Redpoint Format. All open competitors will be assigned 8 boulders and will have 3 hours to climb. Each boulder will consist of a 4-point start, a zone hold and a finish hold. Each boulder may or may not have a low zone. Each competitor will have a maximum of 10 attempts on each boulder. We will be following all USAC rules for the citizens competition as well. The USAC rule book can be found at their website usaclimbing.org

Competitors will be ranked based on:

  1. Amount of tops awarded

  2. Amount of zones awarded

  3. Amount of low zones awarded

  4. Attempts to achieve tops

  5. Attempts to achieve zones

  6. Attempts to achieve low zones
